Two Month Smiles!

David is already two months old. He is all smiles--especially when you touch his nose and make funny noises. :) Or maybe he is grinning at Mom and Dad because they are so goofy. We found out that he's in the 90th percentile for height. Apparently 90% of babies his age are shorter than he is. Way to grow David! He can be found sucking on as much of his hand as he can fit in his mouth (much to Mom's shigrin). We often wake up to chomping noises--he's asleep but sucking rather loudly. The pacifier gets lost and the fist finds its way in there. We'll see if Mom and Dad can combat this but he's been doing it since his first ultrasound at 17 weeks!

Baby Blessing

My sister-in-law has a photography business and took these blessing photos of David. Thanks for such great photos Amy! (amyleephotography.com) I especially love the picture with the hat--we thought that it would look dorky but it is one of my favorites. David's blessing was very nice. All the grandmas and grandpas were there along with Amy's family and great grandma Packer but I'd like to think that great grandma Duffy was there in spirit. Brad seemed really touched by the whole thing. Usually it is the Mom that cries! David continues to grow, especially lengthwise. He has started to smile and is much more active.

Boston University

We got back from the funeral just in time for Brad to fly back east for a few dental interviews. He interviewed on February 11th and 12th and opened an acceptance to Boston University on Feb 15th. Boy were we excited and relieved!! What an adventure....we all laughed when Danielle said that Brad was a traitor since his new school colors will be the same as the University of Utah. What can you do? We are now gearing up for a big move. CONGRATS TO BRAD!

The Silver Lining

Mom's cousin Jacob Davis
Great-Grandma Lyon
Adopted Aunite Lara
Babies Andrew, Stacy, & David
Great-Grandma Cammack

We got to meet lots of people while we were in Utah. There were all kinds of great grandparents, and great aunts & uncles, (even some great-great aunts & uncles!) cousins and cousins kids to see...

Farewell

Ok so the photo of me isn't the best. Danielle was livid that I didn't smile...I just felt weird grinning while standing next to a casket. :( This past week has been overwhelming. We flew to Salt Lake for Grandma Duff's funeral. The service was a nice celebration of her life a little sad but also sweet. I won't ever forget my uncle echoing a scripture when he said that Grandma would have no greater joy than to know that her children walk in truth. It really reminded me of the things that I can do better so I can see her again.

Jeaneen Thain Duffy--Grandma

Grandma Duffy flew down to Arizona with my Dad for David's blessing that is taking place this coming Sunday. She arrived Wed January 30th and spent the afternoon at my apartment holding David. Unfortunatley she passed away sometime early on Thursday morning. It was certainly a suprise to all of us since she was not at home in Salt Lake but here in Phoenix. She planned on attending David's blessing then my cousins wedding in California. We all find comfort in the fact that Grandma Duffy is with Grandpa (she has been missing him for more than 25 years!) and in a much better place. I wanted to pay a tribute to her. She was a fabulous grandmother who was loving and generous with her time. I remember her playing card games with me when I was very small and most recently her regular phone calls inquiring about my new baby. She died spending time with her family. We'll all miss her so much.

Top: David at one month old. It's pretty obvious that I am a totally inept at using a camera and putting David into a really cute pose--I'll have to learn. There was no one to take picture of before him! Bottom: David finally met my Dad who arrived today and will stay through David's blessing on Sunday.
